Government Polytechnic College Ashok Nagar was inaugurated under Open Door Education Policy by Prime Minister late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1964 with 30 seats in Civil Engineering. Presently college offers three year Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and telecommunication and Mechanical Engineering with 60 seats of each.
Location and Area: The institute is situated at district ASHOKNAGAR, about 200 KM North-East of Bhopal. ASHOKNAGAR city is 75 km from BINA on KOTA-BINA Railway route. It is also well connected through road. It is 45 km away from GUNA, Where touches NH3 Highway (AGRA-MUMBAI Highway). The institute is just 2 km away from Railway Station and 1 km away from Bus Stand of the city on Vidisha Road. The Institute holds 8.415 hectares of land with a main building, training shades, hostel & staff quarters.
The Institution is approved and Affiliated to All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E., New Delhi), Directorate of Technical Education, Madhya Pradesh (DTE, Bhopal), Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki ishwavidyalaya (RGPV, Bhopal).
